The Devil Rays not only inked a win a split the series with the Miracle, but did it in impressive fashion. 12 runs on 16 hits in which the top 3rd of the order finished 8-12 with 7 runs scored.
Garret Groce got on base his first three trips to the plate with an 0-2 count and John Matulia equaled that feat with three straight singles of his own. Neal Walton made good on his late substitution for Ryan Royster who suffered a minor back injury in the batting cage. Walton picked up 3 rbi's and had a quite night defensively in left with only one put out.
Everyone got into the act except for Christian Lopez and Nevin Ashley, but it was a total team effort in this victory. The Devil Rays still trail the Mets by 2.5 games with St. Lucie taking both games of the double header against the Tampa Yankees.
Speaking of Tampa, the Yankees are in town tomorrow to start a 4 game series. Tampa is struggling in the second half and the Devil Rays hope to continue their strong performance from tonight.
